After a set of reviews ad exploring we came up with the idea of having the eyes of the main character on the design. I personally really liked the idea for two reasons. It gave the desing a stronger movie-poster feel and being the boy hidden behind his diary, it reinforced the idea of his \"closeted life\".")

I chose to explore the author's idea for a cover with a view from inside a bathroom stall. I wanted to keep it fresh, with a girly and YA feel, definitely focused more on the return to light theme.")

I wanted to give your book a strong, gritty look to convey the idea of strength and the energy of the author's body and of bodybuilding in general.
This red version of the design focuses more on the idea o strength needed to master something, especially something as hard and strenuous as bodybuilding.
The second one, with green highlights on the second part of the title I wanted to focus on the \"natural\" part of the title.")

I chose a heptagram - a seven pointed star, a sacred symbol from many ancient traditions - and I combined it with some icons rapresenting the different areas of expertise related to product management you explore in the book.
I wanted to make it as simple and as similat to the other books of the series and I did it throug the use of colour. The rainbow is also another link tho the \"seven\".")

For this design I followed the author requests for the idea of having the 'X' from made of two intersecting DNA strands and I did it in the best looking way I could.
In this version of the desing I also chose to put an a human-like robot figure in the position of Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man to symbolize the \"homunkulus\" from the title.")

I tried to identify with the main character, Monica, to get a glimpse of the terrible sense of vertigo and loss she could feel in the moment she understands she has to give away the child she carries, the moment she undertstand that's not 'a child' but HER child.
I also wanted to represent the bond between a mother and her child, and I chose to present it as the umbilical cord. The cord is cut, to illustrate how this bond would be destroyed if the child would be taken away from the mother.")

On the background I put the girl in a pose that shows the pain that will lead her to trying to commit suicide. The color orange sets the difference from the foreground: I immagine the cover to be set soon after the main character Adam dreams of her and decides to go all the way to New York to save her. So in orange we got the danger and the dream itself.
I composed the image to show Adam's urgent thought in the back of his mind, and his determination (as it's clear from his eyes, which go in her direction) to do something about it. He just can't let Katie die.")
