Cathedral Partners is a web 2.0 website for connecting buyers and sellers of privately held companies. We are redeveloping our webportal and website and building them on a new platform. We need a new design and look to give to our Developers to turn into our home page and front-end pages. We need this immediately so that they can integrate it for a very public launch in 4 weeks. Overview
Speed is very important!
Our users will be executives who need a simple, professional, clean, navigation-friendly design without information clutter. Pictures of people working, money, etc are not important to us or our users. They are all about digesting meaningful content. They will loose patience immediately with a design that attempts to be clever or cute at the expense of allowing them to find and digest content quickly and easily. It needs to be professional, simple, and easy and we want them to start searching our "community" immediately.
the two main things that we need people to do is 1. sell a business through us or 2. buy a business through us. Those two things need to be the most obvious things on this site.
Colors.
We would like to use blue and green as our new colors. Blue should represent Buyers. This means that the buyers tab (and other buyer specific things) should probably be blue. Sellers will be green.
We like the blue and green shades used by WebEx. This will provide a good example http://support.webex.com/support
. Feel free to play with the colors but these should be a safe bet for you. We are ultimately looking for 2 equal colors that are inviting yet professional.
Logo
Our original colors were red and grey. You should feel free to change the colors of our logo as well. It is located here http://michaelwolverton.com/cathedr…rslogo.jpg
The font is Microsoft Yi Baiti' just change the colors from red and grey to blue and green or whatever you suggest.
Font
Microsoft Yi Baiti' but feel free explore other similar, professional fonts.
The four templates:
1. Home Page:
Here is the template for our new new Homepage http://www.michaelwolverton.com/homepagenew
please expand the page if it is blurry to you.
Our logo will be on the upper left hand side with login, password and telephone number, and a "contact us" button for email (not shown on the template) on the right.
Two tabs, labelled "Buy a Business" and "Sell a business" should be found between the logo and the login information. You can experiment and move these tabs to the right if it looks better and feel free to round the edges or improve upon he tabs. We want them to be inviting.
The majority of this page will be a a flash box/element that you DO NOT need to create. You need to build everything around the flash box but just leave space for us to insert the flash piece.
We are debating the idea of adding a tag line at the top of this page. It may be something like this "Buy or Sell a private business". Feel free to include this under the logo or to the right of it...or leave it off. It is up to you.
The seller tab should be green & and the buyer blue. Please feel free to experiment with different shades and tab styles. Our logo will also need to be redesigned to match the blue / green color scheme.
2. Seller page
Here is the template that will be used for both the "buyer" and "seller" page. This template is an example of the seller page http://www.michaelwolverton.com/sellerpagenew
Feel free to experiment with moving the "steps" (create a deal, approve matched investors, register) to the top of the page and moving the "stats" to the left.
- Getting Started - Create a Deal: The seller page has four elements: left hand side navigation menu, the 3 steps of getting started, the form, a getting started button and statistics from our solution. This is the default page after selecting Sellers from the home page.
Please experiment with different layouts while also maintaining the green color theme. For example, we would like to see a design that has the 3 steps organized horizontally rather than vertically.
Users should clearly be able to tell visually (I used dark Green with larger font) that I am on the getting started menu item in the Seller Tab. Feel free to use "white space" as long as they are aware that they are on the seller tab.
Users should clearly understand which step of getting started they are on.
3. SELLER MATCHES
Here is the template that will be used for the matches (of prospective buyers) that appear after you post a company for sale http://www.michaelwolverton.com/sellermatchesnew
- Getting Started - Review Matches: We would like to see a design that maximizes the readability of the matches table.
4 .SELLER BENEFITS
Here is the template that will be used for written content http://www.michaelwolverton.com/sel…enefitsnew
This page will have written content on it. There is a possibility that we will have screen shots of our solution on this page as well.
