Breathing Color
We manufacture and sell canvas, fine art paper, stretcher bars, frames and other things related to printmaking. Our target audience is photographers, artists, and other printmakers who reproduce fine art.
Site design must be simple, clean, flat, and minimalistic. Designers should provide a home page, product page, and category page mock up.
We need a much more visually appealing website for our customers, with conversion optimization in mind. We are looking for a minimalistic style that is very "web 2.0." The majority of our customers are artists and photographers, so they immediately judge our brand by our website layout. We're open to color combinations, but our logo will not change from the existing site.
Home page - Should define who our company is and what we're all about. Our thoughts were to have a great tag line above the fold. Below that a "shopping" section that might have some product thumbnails that could be scrolled through. Then a "reviews" section. Then an 'about breathing color' and facilities tour section with our company video included. Also, an 'Education' section that let's our customers know that we have a ton of resources to help them get amazing prints. It might link to our blog, our forum, and our "BC Academy" (http://breathingcolor.com/page/bc-academy/)
**UPDATED** Product Page - The product page will need to include: main product image and gallery, brief description, drop-down menus for "finish" and "size" selections, a "quantity" text field, and an "add to cart" button all above the fold (I've attached a quick image reference of this type of layout). Also some way to display additional details, tech specs, FAQs, reviews, and 'other recommended products'. Along with having the product pricing display when a customer makes a product selection at the top of the page, we want there to be pricing information below the fold as well. Because we have some product pages that have a large amount of options (like: http://breathingcolor.com/action/bc_shop/243/#.UuqMqxCg3fc), we should show a price table somewhere below the fold to allow the customer a quick overview available sizes and pricing.
**UPDATED** Category Page - We will have category pages for most of our products. For example a Canvas category page would list out the various types of canvas we offer. We would also have a Fine Art Paper, Photo Paper, Frames, etc... category pages. We would like to incorporate: product photo, product name, short description (maybe a few bullet points), a clear call to action for each product, and product reviews link.
anything that is not minimalistic or flat. We hate clutter.
