Burke Supply is a business to business New York City distributer of Janitorial Supplies, Foodservice Disposables and Paper & Packaging. The company, started in 1950, operates out of the Brooklyn Navy Yard in Williamsburg overlooking Manhattan.
We have a very broad range of customers. From large cleaning contractors who buy cleaning supplies and toilet tissues/paper towels for the largest NYC skyscrapers, to small delis who buy everything you need to hold and wrap the food they sell like disposable coffee cups, napkins, and the bag you put it in to take it with you. Generally any company that has a bathroom, uses a coffee cup, throws stuff away, cleans their facilities, sells food, or uses a cardboard box is a potential customer.
Please see the attached files. Meet “Burkulese”. Burkulese is Burke’s mascot who appears on the catalog, the trucks, and the paperwork of the company. Currently we only have two versions of Burkulese to work with, flying and standing.
This job is to provide us with five versions of Burkulese, two of them redrawing the positions we already have, and three in other positions, all that would be suitable for use in marketing materials. These versions of Burkulese should give him a somewhat updated look, yet still be completely recognizable to the former version. We are not looking to change our truck and other graphics right away, but gradually over time use this newer version of our company mascot. This new version should still look fun, maybe still even cartoonish. Burkulese’s face should however, look less “goofy” and more “trustingly friendly”.
Again, this new version should be very close to what we presently have. We are looking to review not only versions that look hand drawn as Burkulese presently looks, but also computer generated versions giving a more modern feel.
This job does hold the potential for doing future work with us. We may need other versions, and we have been discussing the possibility of doing short animations for our new website being designed. If these jobs come up we would prefer to return to the same designer.
