The Relic Guitar Studio
The Relic Guitar Studio specialises in boutique-quality vintage guitars and clone replacement parts.
A "relic" guitar is a brand new guitar which has been artificially aged in order to appear well-used and worn (often several decades old). See some of the products on http://relicguitarstudio.com to get a good idea of what they sell and what their products represent. Don't let the current website influence you, once we have a new logo, we will run another competition to redesign the entire site so be as individual, colourful and unique as you like.
The products offered are extremely high-quality hand-made parts and are often used to repair original 40+ year old guitars, or for the customer to build their own guitar with the vibe, mojo and appearance of a much older (and much more expensive instrument). They specialise in original manufacturing techniques and finishes, and also offer a line of clone guitars based on guitars owned by great guitarists.
The Relic Guitar Studio's audience is relatively niche.
The logo will be used on the website (see the screenshot below), in emails and in offline materials. The vast majority of the Relic Guitar Studio's customers are middle-aged, guitar-playing men, and guitar geek/specialists who have taken a keen interest in guitars in general and in particular in vintage guitars.
The website as it stands can be found at http://relicguitarstudio.com but please do not let this current website design influence your logo design in any way. The intention is to get a new logo designed first, and then use this to influence the new website design (which we will most likely run another competition for on here in the near future!).
So please, be as creative, individual and colourful as you want - the current website should not influence you at all.
The logo needs to portray the aged and high-quality aspect of the company's products, and in some way incorporate guitars.
The logo needs to include the name "The Relic Guitar Studio", but does not necessarily have to include the "the" (so it can just be "Relic Guitar Studio").
We are particularly fond of the patterns that Jimi Hendrix painted onto his Monterey Pop Stratocaster:
But this is nothing more than a suggestion - we would far rather receive interesting and different designs than a flow of similarly-styled ones!
The current logo is attached below but we are not fond of the colours or the coarseness of the design, so it's only there for reference not influence.
We will feed back on all designs submitted and will be happy to answer any questions along the way so don't be shy!
Final designs should be provided in PSD format, and should ideally cover both a portrait and landscape version of the logo (if necessary) for flexibility in future use.
