I'm an online advertising entrepreneur with nearly 10 years experience in online travel. I've built successful companies on the "work hard, play hard and have fun" method. I can be demanding on timeframes and responsiveness but I'm very loyal to folks that have been good to me. This is a side project for me. But if it works, I may scale it quickly into a full-on, travel booking portal. I have two other brands--worldzipper and globezipper ready to build out as well. If your brand can make people hungry to find and book a great travel deal, we have a bright future ahead of us.
Online travel planners who want to get a great travel deal online. (Who doesn't want a great deal?) 25-54 with a household income of $50k+. These customers have told a search engine where they want to go and have arrived at this site as either 1)their first stop in the travel planning process or 2)at the end (after viewing 25+travel sites). Finally--these users should have a sense of humor. The name is TravelZipper. It's a funny name. Memorable but funny.
Want to make people hungry to find a great deal on Flights, Hotels and / or vacation rentals in descending order of importance. It's all about implying excitement, speed and savings with the concept of a travelzipper and adding a touch of humor.
Also want to capture the "excitement of the find" over the numbness of the search. The site is a travel price search website but I don't want to focus on searching. Want to celebrate finding. Travel is fun! Want to make the logo image reflect the excitement of finding a great deal on travel. Also want to accent the time savings. The website will make it possible for users to search 8 sites at once to find a great deal, rather than going to each site individually and searching one site after the next.
Design-wise, I don't like 90-degree right angles with borders. I like rounded edges. I'm thinking this uses hungry colors (red, yellow, orange...) but I don't want users to feel panicked. Just excited to find a deal.
Size-wise, I'd like this to be square or horizontal, not vertical.
The slogan next to the logo will probably be something like "Travel in a Zip" or "Un-Zip Great Deals".
Conceptually, I had some ideas but you are the creative one. I thought about having a globe that's being "unzipped" by the user. But maybe there are some visual elements that imply excitement, speed and savings.
