Bowen McCauley Dance
Bowen McCauley Dance (BMD), founded 15 years ago by Artistic Director Lucy Bowen McCauley, nurtures, promotes and develops the art of dance. "Metro-DC's premier contemporary dance company" (Washington Post) is critically acclaimed for its spirited dancers, use of live music and diverse musical genre, professionalism of its concert dance performances and collaborative partnerships. Lucy's unique choreographic style partners classically trained dancers with creative repertoire that resonates with and excites audiences of all kinds.
Committed to community service, BMD introduces people of all ages, socio-economic backgrounds, and under-served populations, including people with disabilities, to the joy and beauty of dance through extraordinary performances, outreach programs and workshops.
"Washingtonian" recognized BMD as "one of the area's best dance troupes" and Lucy as one of the "top men and women who have helped transform Washington into one of the nation's liveliest centers for the performing arts." After meeting stringent standards, the Catalogue for Philanthropy has again selected BMD as one of the best community-based nonprofits in the Greater Washington region and will present the company in its 2010-11 Catalogue.
The logo will be incorporated in all BMD 2010-11 season correspondence, annual brochure, performance programs, quarterly e-newsletters, and all hard copy and electronic marketing and fundraising materials. Therefore, targeted audiences will include the Greater Metropolitan Washington DC area through major media outlets and social networks; mail and email lists; selected high profile individuals and corporations; patrons of the arts.
We would like to create a signature logo for our 15th season that conveys the celebratory nature of this significant accomplishment, the facets of the company that have made it both successful and a stand-out in the Washington DC region, as well as the visual characteristics of Lucy Bowen McCauley who is well known and respected for her talent, her much-loved personality, her strong leadership of the company, and her fiery red hair.
We envision an illustration of a simple silhouette of a woman's face with flowing, wavy red hair extending to the right of the face.
Incorporated into the red hair waves may include: musical notes (emphasizing BMD's focus on live music with our performances); other visuals that represent our exquisite dancers and/or convey movement and dance.
The logo should also feature the tag line: BMD at 15 - Red.Hot.Fabulous!
15th season logo output should be Pantone 4- color process guide-coated. Vector art: Illustrator (AI or eps) is the best and Photoshop (psd) best for anything else.
Company logo and Lucy's headshot are attached. If you wish to see some photos of the company performing, go to http://www.bmdc.org/press/. If you wish to see our website, which is in transition, go to http://www.bmdc.org.
