Borgida Photography
Over the past 10 years, I have dedicated myself to the medium of photography as an artist and photo historian. Originally from Long Island, NY, I began taking photography courses at the School of Visual Arts and, later, I started taking workshops on large format photography.
In 2005, I moved out to California to apprentice for photography Lenny Eiger at his studio (http://www.eigerphoto.com). After a one-year apprenticeship, I began taking conceptual photography and art history courses at San Jose State University. Presently, I am a graduate student in the Art History and Visual Culture program at San Jose State. The focus of my research is in the History of Photography.
In terms of my company, Borgida Photography, I feel my competitive advantage is that my dedication to the practice of photography, as well as my deep understanding of the history of photography, allows me to create everlasting moments with high respect to the people I photograph and in admiration of photographic meaning and history.
Borgida Photography is a new business providing event/itinerant photography services, focusing primarily in the Salinas Valley and Monterey Coastal communities. These events will consist of weddings, school and family portraits, and business and corporate functions.
In addition, I will serve as an itinerant collodion photographer at festivals and rodeos in the Salinas Valley and Monterey Coast regions. Collodion photography is a 19th century process (1850s - 1880s) that creates images on iron plates (ferrotypes, tintypes). Please take a look at the following show at the International Center of Photography in NYC to learn more about tintypes:

I will be an itinerant collodion photographer at festivals and rodeos that focus on wine, farming, and cowboy themes.
