I am journalist and surfer who is developing a new blog. The tag line is "Where waves, politics and culture collide." My goal is to establish this blog as a go-to source for surfers who want a little more depth than what they are receiving from the publications and blogs that are out there. I began my career in journalism with the Wall Street Journal Online, eventually making way out to California. I was a staff business writer with the L.A. Daily news for five years, while also serving as a correspondent for the Christian Science Monitor. My passion is telling people's stories across a broad spectrum of platforms, including video, blogs, and still photograph.

The logo is for myself. My target audience is men and women 18 to 65. I realize this is a broad target audience, but I believe surfing attracts a fairly broad demographic. The market already exists, and they are mostly hardworking professionals who surf to escape the mundanity of life. Surfing soothes the soul and also can be quite enlightening. I would like to take these concepts and build a blog that is smart, engaging and cool.
I would like a fairly simple design, something that readers will not tire of viewing every day. The design should be fluid and two to three colors max. If organic is a word that describes a logo with a more natural feel, perhaps we should start there. I am certainly open to your creativity and welcome abstract concepts as well. My goal is to design a logo that will sit atop the blog page, but can also find it's way to business cards and t-shirts. Therefore, it must be adaptable.
