-Organization Unbound is a collaborative project that aims to deepen the impact of social change organizations through experiments in expressive change. Organizations that practice expressive change strive to live out the kinds of changes they are trying to create in the world. In a highly expressive organization there is a deep coherence between the organization’s overarching social vision and its daily practices.
-Picture a community organization that really feels like a community itself. Picture a healthy hospital where care-giving is part of every relationship - not just doctor/patient, but accountant/porter, neighbor/nurse, visitor/security guard, etc. Picture a human rights advocacy organization that is deeply respectful and nurturing of the interests of each person it encounters – from its own organization members to even its fiercest opponents.
-This project facilitates sharing of experiments in expressive change across a broad range of social change organizations:
1) Service organizations (food banks, health care facilities, etc.) 2) Educational organizations (any type/level)
3) Advocacy groups (environmental, human rights, identity-based, etc.)
4) Community development organizations
5) Formal or informal social movement organizations (may overlap with advocacy groups)
