We are a nonprofit organization working on issues intersecting agriculture, community and environment. Our initiatives solve problems common to these topics by considering them comprehensively rather than as a single issue, resulting in more effective action. Most of our work is tied to reducing water quality impacts from production agriculture. We are working on an innovative community model that utilizes renewable energy made from prairie grasses grown on environmentally sensitive land currently in annual tillage here in our intense corn and soybean region. The conversion of land from annual tillage to perennial grasses greatly reduces pollution loading from nitrogen, phosphorous and sediment. It also creates new business enterprises and stronger rural communities.
This logo will be used mostly with a general audiance.
At times, we will use it to target rural communities, organizations working on rural economic development, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy and students.
The logo will promote our project, the Madelia Model, where we plan to demonstrate how a rural community can use renewable energy as a catalyst to add living wage jobs from new enterprises, improve water quality and wildlife habitat, and reduce climate change through carbon sequestration and reduced emissions.
The words "Madelia Model" need to be in the logo.
The word "The" may preceed the words Madelia Model.
Color is desired, including up to a full four color process.
A sub tiltle of "Renewable Energy and Sustainable Rural Communities" may be used.
While I am open to all innovative ideas for this project, one thing I have been thinking about is how to represent the conversion of prairie grasses to renewable energy within a simple logo.
In addition, the logo may include representation of the connections between agriculture, environment and community.
