TangoLaw
I think this is a first-rate, fun design challenge in that I have a law practice (normally a conservative occupation) that is very forward-thinking (I hope!) and unconventional in setup (virtual).
I am a Wharton- and University of Michigan Law School-trained lawyer with a cutting-edge, boutique law practice serving mostly U.S.-based high tech startup companies.
I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina but most of my clients are based in the Silicon Valley.
Current and potential clients needing a top attorney for their startup company (again, mostly high tech companies). Because I work from Argentina, sometimes potential clients may feel nervous about working with me because I am so far away physically. Usually, once they talk with me, their concerns are allayed and they realize that as long as I do excellent work, there's no issue. Partly because of this unique concern, my image needs to inspire confidence without coming across as too stuffy.
Mostly, my target will be executives of high tech companies but many of them will still be fairly young (under 40). Demographically, they tend to be a well-educated and fairly cultured bunch.
Because I am an attorney, the design cannot be goofy, childish or cartoonish. However, it cannot be stodgy, stuffy or staid.
If you can incorporate the light blue color of the Argentina flag, it is a plus: http://www.chevroncars.com/learn/fl…a-flag.gif
It does not have to be the only color and the logo doesn't have to have it, but it would be nice if this color could be incorporated because I am based in Argentina.
I chose the name TangoLaw for my business because tango is one of the first things people think of when they think of Argentina. However, if the logo is to evoke tango (the dance), it must be VERY subtle and indirect. It cannot have an overly obvious and heavy-handed connection because I am providing legal services, not dance lessons. :)
It is a very fine line to walk because even the name itself -- TangoLaw -- was scary for me to choose because I want to be taken seriously as a lawyer and it's a very unconventional name to choose for a law business. So the logo needs to be solid enough to not allow people to think I am not a serious professional. Especially when I am dealing with my clients' legal issues.
Here's a website I like: http://www.robertcouturier.com/ (no logo, but I like the design of the site).
For fashion designers, I like: Narciso Rodriguez, Donna Karan, Giorgio Armani, Max Mara, Theory (sophisticated, modern but not boring).
