Our key demo is male's age 18-36 and the theme is sports cards. We would like the logo to appeal to this crowd and have both a "manly" edge to it with a subtle comedic vibe reflecting the trends toward the wierd comedy currently used in commercials and other forms of media aimed at this demo.
The lifesyle of our reader is that of a hardcore sports fan that also dabbles in videogames and obviously plays Fantasy Sports. The "monster" itself could be anything from an animal (real life monsters), mythical monster, sports team mascot (something like the Philly Fanatic), fictional monster or any other type that we aren't thinking of. We would like the monster to differentiate itself from current monsters used by other companies and marketing without straying too far off the beaten path.
Although we are open to your interpretations of the monster itself - as that's why we are here and wish not to restrict the creative process, we would like the monster to be scary, but not sinister scary and possibly have humorous traits that everyday sports fans can identity with (maybe even a mustache, beard or some other funny traitt, although those are just a few possibilities). Feel free to experiment with any ideas you have, all that matters is that the Monster comes off as a "character", the type of Monster you would want to hang out with and be in a fantasy sports league with).
We fancy our company representing a futuristic, creative and bold new direction for the Sports Card industry, one that represents the interests of our reader base rather than the industry itself (they've had their chance).
The logo will likely be used in a variety of formats including T-Shirts, hats, business cards and the website itself. The "monster" itself will likely be used in stand alone form and with the text logo. The text should be bold, yet crisp and conrguent. We would also like there to be some sort of condensed logo, web 2.0 logo or logo meant for use with various forms of social media including Twitter, Facebook and to appear in the web browser.
The tag line for our business is "The future of sports card coverage, content and community". We would like the logo to reflect a feeling that this something new and that we're knocking down the door and we want our target market to join us in a sports card revolution.
Our business is all about doing what hasn't been done and innovating an industry. We chose this medium because we believe the greatest ideas come from every day creatives rather than a large firm.
Thanks for taking the time to help us define our bold, new brand through the use of your creative skill sets!
