Shining the Light of Jesus

Light of the Valley Lutheran Church is a conservative Lutheran church in Layton, Utah, belonging to the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. We number about 150 members. Our church exists to glorify God by growing in His Word and boldly shining the Light of Jesus to others. We reach out to our community and neighbors so that they can know Jesus, their only way to heaven, who also calls himself the Light of the world. We believe that the Bible is God's Word, and all of our teachings come from it. We are in the Salt Lake Valley about 30 miles north of Salt Lake City, with the Wasatch range of mountains immediately to our east. Layton is a suburban city, but with many people who enjoy the outdoors, hiking, especially the mountains. Our town is mostly known for Hill Air Force Base; many of our families have ties to the base.

Three concepts that we want in our logo going forward are "light," "valley," and "Jesus." One of the attached files is our current logo. In 2017 our church turned 25 years old and is currently undergoing major remodeling. The architect's design concepts are attached (note that the shingles are not actually grey, but the brown/burgandy color as shown in the photo of the outside of the church). For the 25th anniversary, we planned on a simple update of our logo. However, as we pursued this, the project morphed into a desire for a total redesign to reflect where we are now as a church. We had worked with a design artist who ultimately decided to leave the project. She has given us permission to use her concepts, which are also attached. I've attached a photo of the interior of our church. The cross at the front was designed and built by one of our members. We are hoping that its design would serve as inspiration for the new logo as we also plan on making a matching cross for the front of the church (even though the architect had not rendered it to the concept yet). I also attached a picture facing the front of our church to show the mountains that we have the privilege of looking at every day so that you know what our mountains look like.
