NOTE: LAB stands for Latin American Bioconductor. affiliated with bioconductor.org (usa version).  We are a foundation in Latin America. We are an academic foundation devoted to providing bioinformatics support, courses and scientific lectures for molecular biologists interested in studying the human genome and epigenome (DNA).  we develop and use computer programs, specifically R (http://www.r-project.org/) to aid us in analyzing biological data.  the tool we use is a statistical program.  in this program the terminal starts with '>' and we as analyst invoke functions like this nameoffunction(argument to run).  thus the name of our logo can instill this idea. we are not a reaerch lab in the coventional sense so don't use flasks, liquid, bubbles, or atoms, etc in the design.  we want our logo to reflect latin america and the research community.  the name is already informatic-ie so you can use it to incorporate your ideas.  do not be shy to use #, (), > in the design. we also want to include genomics into the design.

we are affiliated with bioconductor.org so if you think you can incorporate their logo go for it. we are the latin american entity (latin american bioconductor foundation) and so the logo and identity should distinguish us from them. our website is http://bioconductor.fmrp.usp.br/ and we are incorporated in brazil. try to incorporate the following keywords:  latin american outline (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/73/Map-Latin_America.svg) and flags (http://www.glidecam.mx/MAP/latinamerica_iMAP_666.jpg) and dna molecule genome (http://news.brown.edu/files/article_images/Senescence1.jpg or http://www.epigenomebrowser.org/) and computers and programming language (http://www.mdc.edu/virtual/img/programs-computer-programming.jpg). Would be great if there was a portion that could be scaled down to favicon size.
