Urkuwayku is a small, family-run organic farm located high in the Andes near Quito, Ecuador. We produce over 50 crops -- European vegetables and Andean grains and roots and tubers. The biological motor of our farm is the cuy or guinea pig, which produces both high value meat (guinea pig is a local delicacy) as well as manure for soil fertility. We sell directly to families via weekly food baskets. We also provide training to future farms, we produce artisanal beer and offer a small high end camping ('clamping') experience.

Diseño de inspiración
The farm is named after the creek that lines one side of our property. In Kichwa, 'Urkcuwayku' literally means pass/gap/notch in the mountain. We live high up in the gap between two ridges of a volcano and before us lays a beautiful Andean landscape, with volcanos and a glacier (Volcano Cotopaxi) in the distance. Nevertheless, I am bored with common farm logos of hillsides, crops and a sunset, so I would like to focus elsewhere. Provided the cultural relevance and our history with the cuy (guinea pig) -- no doubt an unsuspecting and unlikely savor of our once degraded soils and farm, I would like to build the logo around the included image -- an archangel delivering a cuy to the Earth... Rather than go overly religious (we are not Catholic, but certainly we live in a strongly Catholic culture), serious and heavy, I'd like to keep things light and upbeat. I feel the attached image of begins to capture that.
