TRK200 (we own the domain TRK200.com but have not activated it, nor created content yet)
We have been in the toner/inkjet printer consumable market for 25+ years.
Our company is small with 10 - 20 great employees (if you count virtual and temp/periodic workers, closer to 20). I really love them all. They are great.
All of us really do like working together as a "team".
One of us (not me) recently made the comment while we were eating "Vincent's Pizza" for lunch (we love to buy lunch and sit around and "jaw" about anything/everything (occasionally actually talking about biz...) that they had a dream where our team was competing against our competitors' teams for more business.
They said the dream was a weird blend of a reality-type "Survivor" show they had been watching before they went to bed and high-tech "Matrix" like thing were it was "us against them"...
Someone said, "You know, these days it is all about survival and I know we could kill any other team out there!"
That all happened about 6 weeks ago and had been rumbling around in my head since.
By chance, I met the author of "Tribal Leadership" at an Eben Pagan seminar and he was talking about exactly this idea (and I know the person who had the dream never heard of either of them).
"Tribal Leadership" talks about how the most successful companies have fewer than 150 employees and work like a tribe that really does have that "It's us versus everyone else" way of thinking.
This logo/design will only be used for our employees and virtual team.
None of us are rocket scientists, we come from primarily lower to middle class backgrounds (and proud of it), no shirts/ties/suits, no dress code (other than pants, "please", and tops, for the ladies).
We like basic things, "Blue Collar Comedy" is hilarious to us, most of us like country music, we would rather have a great burger and beer than steak at some fancy place (OutBack Steakhouse is "fancy" for us)...
Our company Christmas Parties are the "Ho Ho Ho Down" where we pitch a huge tent in our back yard, cook ribs, pulled pork, chicken, brisket (and this year, venison) on a huge tow-behind smoker/cooker, get a dance floor, get a country-western DJ/line-dance instructor, have a fire pit and plenty of booze and just hang out...
It's unusual in that it is a company Christmas party that people actually want to come to (not some bullshit "pay homage to the boss" where they feel obligated to get dressed up, and talk smack with someone they can't stand during the day and like even less after hours...)
We all know the food we eat and the roofs over our heads depend on each of us doing as much as we can to keep our company moving forward.
When one of us is down, out, sick, hurting, etc., we pull together to help them out and cover for them.
Think gang, tribe, primal, survival, overcoming, winning, exhilaration...
This design will ultimately go on bumper stickers for our "tribe", on the free shirts and tees we provide, painted on the walls of our "den", and appear on the private web site for our gang.
Somehow this logo has to incorporate either the TRK or TRKies (kinda like "trekkies", but using our TRK internal acronym we use to refer to our company) in the design and the number "200" in there as well.
We already pay great (and those aren't my words, those are the sentiments of our people), but my commitment to them is to literally double everyone's pay at the end of 2010 if a particular benchmark is hit (which is where the "200" comes into play).
If that benchmark is hit sooner, their pay will be doubled at that time, instead of at the end of 2010.
If a "2X" gets in the design, as well (or something else more "artsy"/conceptual" - that would represent what they all have to look forward to when the tribe hits that mark) that would be great.
I've never tried to design something like this before so I don't have anything in my head (other than some really lame "TRK200" or "TRKies200" sort of stupid non-designer, can't draw a stick-figure sort of person's idea)...
