Hockey Australia is the national governing body for field hockey in Australia. We work in conjunction with affiliated state and territory organisations to manage and promote our sport as well as managing and promoting our national mens and womens teams who compete in all major international tournaments.
We are funded through a combination of revenue from domestic competitions/affiliates, federal government funding and corporate sponsorships.
We are looking to aggressively grow our brand in the Australian market and expand levels of participation in field hockey across the country particularly in school aged children.
Field hockey in Australia is enjoyed by an extremely wide demographic with participants of both genders across all age ranges from 5 years old through to 70 years old. As such the logo must have a general broad appeal, however as part of our development/growth we are looking to primarily target the 13 - 25 year old age group and this should be a primary focus of the design. A secondary focus should be the appeal to large corporate sponsors which means that the logo must translate across all mediums from online, to print through to signage and also television.
We would like a fresh, modern and imaginative logo designed for Hockey Australia.
The logo should incorporate;
- logo graphic
- text of 'Hockey Australia'
- colours would include or solely consist of green and gold
As part of the process we are looking to incorporate a co-branding of all states and territory associations, as such we would like to see a secondary sample logo created using different colours, different wording and a tweak or slight change to the graphic to distinguish it from the national brand and align it with the state brand. The sample logo will be for Hockey NSW.
This logo should incorporate;
- logo graphic
- text of 'Hockey NSW'
- colours would include or solely consist of navy blue and light blue
- optional State specific icon that could be incorporated is a waratah flower
We would encourage lateral ideas - a good example is the new tennis Australia logo - http://www.schoolsportwa.com.au/ima…tralia.JPG.
We would discourage clichéd responses using literal representations of an Australian map, kangaroos (or other animals) or hockey sticks. The logo should be clean and crisp it should not be elegant or overly complex.
Overall we are looking an innovative modern approach that will broadly appeal but that will provide an edge in the youth market.
