UKGA is a leading UK flying and flight planning site for private pilots. Users visit the site to find airfield data, latest weather and navigation warnings, maps, etc. and to plan their flights. The site also has community features such as forums, classifieds adverts, aviation articles, etc.
The logo should appeal to the site's users – private pilots who fly light aircraft for pleasure and personal business – but also to visiting investors and advertisers, so I don't want anything too surreal, cartoon-like, nostalgic or old-fashioned. I'd like something contemporary, clean and vibrant.
The web site has a varied user base. Some of the users are as young as 18 or 19, and some are retired, but most are in the 30-50 range. They're generally a fairly technical bunch, and, of course, most like gadgets such as GPS, radios, instrument panels, etc.
Most of the users fly small touring aeroplanes, but some fly fast, high-tech aeroplanes, "old-fashioned" biplanes, microlights, helicopters, balloons and so on.
I'm looking for a new logo and colour scheme for my flying site, UKGA (http://ukga.com). I'll be using the new logo in a site refresh and IA revision. The new logo will be central to the new site layout and design.
The logo must also work in print (cards, letterhead, publications, clothing, etc).
The following are required:
* A new logo in a vector format (preferably CDR) for print use, and bitmap formats (layered PNG), plus JPEG in various sizes for web and mobile web sites.
* Hex colour definitions used in the logo, which I can use to update the site's CSS.
Please don't use photos or any stock clip art in the logo.
The URL, ukga.com, is always written in lower case.
The logo will ideally have an aspect ratio of about 2:1 or 3:1, but that's not cast in stone if you have good ideas.
The logo must show the name UKGA or the URL, ukga.com or both
Please read the full logo brief PDF (attached to project) and shout if you want any more information!!
