Geist Chapel
We are a brand new church starting in an upscale area around a reservoir... Geist Reservoir. We are located in a high-end subdivision near the lake. Homes on the lake are $1 million to $10 million. Homes off the lake are $500k to $1 million. Our church building is not fancy... is more of a chapel than a cathedral... but needs to fit into the community. So the logo needs to be simple but classy. Maybe understated elegance? We would like for the logo to be an artistic rendering of the building... but not an photographic equivalent. Rather, a stylized or idealized rendering of a "chapel near a lake." We've attached photos of the building. We are thinking a drawing of the building with a few trees and a blue swoosh somewhere in the logo hinting of the nearby water (we are not on the water... but near it). But we are open to other ideas if you have a good brainstorm.
Our target audience is potential church goers who live close enough to attend. The area has mostly established families, professional and business families, highly educated and affluent. We don't want to look fancy, but because the building is not a fancy building... but we want the look to speak of excellence and quality.
Historically, the building has been widely used for weddings, receptions, anniversary parties, etc. It is a nice place, in the middle of trees, and fun place to have celebrations. The logo should appeal to someone who might want to have a wedding at a nice chapel near a lake.
We are looking for something that might look good on cream or light beige stationery... something that says, "that looks like a nice, happy place." Nice color, but not flashy color.
Here are pictures of the building... I'm sending some pictures with the leaves off the trees so you can see the outlines of the building... but obviously we'd want leaves on the trees in the logo. The trees in the logo do not need to be the same as the trees in the picture... stylized or idealized trees are all right.
However, we do not want clip art. We want the artist's rendering of the building to make it look pretty much like the building... just not a photographic equivalent. But someone should see that the artwork is a picture of the actual building.
