SHIFT @ Ryerson
SHIFT @ Ryerson stands for “Students Heading Into Full-Time at Ryerson.”
Ryerson University is located in downtown Toronto. It is an urban campus situated right at Yonge-Dundas square – the heart of Toronto. Ryerson has about 35 000 undergraduate and graduate students. The student body is diverse, active, and vibrant.
SHIFT @ Ryerson is a new program that supports students with learning disabilities in making the transition to university life. The key concept is TRANSITIONS. Major transitions in life can be difficult and scary. Going to university is a very challenging but exciting time in a young person’s life. Our aim is to help with this transition by connecting students from all across the Greater Toronto Area to the Ryerson community. We provide both academic and social support. SHIFT @ Ryerson offers an online course focused on learning strategies, a mentoring program, one-on-one support from staff, and lots of fun social events throughout the summer and school year.
We want our logo to appeal to both men and women who have finished high school and are starting their first year at university. Most students entering first year are between 18 and 22. They will be studying a broad range of subjects such as Business, Engineering, Architecture, and Design. Our target audience is very diverse in terms of culture, ability, sexuality, and socio-economic status. Our program values equal access for all and celebrates diversity.
We need a logo to represent SHIFT @ Ryerson. It will be the basis for branding our program and creating an identity on campus. The logo will be used on information pamphlets, posters, websites, and even large signs.
We want our logo to be fresh, young, and clean. It should be modern and appeal to young people, but also warm and inviting. Keep in mind that the key concept being represented is TRANSITIONS.
We have thought about going with a computer theme and incorporating the Shift Key and @ sign. It would be interesting to see some logos with this theme. We will also welcome other ideas that are not along this line and are excited to see what different things you can come up with.
We would like to see some logos with "Students Heading Into Full-Time at Ryerson" and some with just the acronym “SHIFT @ Ryerson.” In terms of colour – we are very flexible. We will use the colours from the logo in the rest of our branding. Ryerson University uses navy and gold. You can use these colours or not. I’ve attached the Ryerson logo for you to see along with some ideas we liked.
