The current logo for St. John’s (bald eagle with cross, image attached) is difficult to reproduce and its style appears dated.
For its new logo, St. John’s would like to continue using the eagle and cross concept; however, the design of the eagle and cross doesn’t need to exactly replicate any of the samples attached. The symbolism of the eagle and cross derives from St. John the Evangelist:
“The royal eagle is a fitting symbol for Saint John the Evangelist, for the eagle is known for grace, strength, keenness of vision and powers of flight above all creatures, as Saint John the Evangelist is sublime among all stylists, even the most royal of scriptural stylists, soaring to heaven itself to open his grand profession of faith in his gospel concerning the Eternal God, Creator and Redeemer.” - You can read more about St. John the Evangelist here: http://www.marywood.edu/history/rot…elist.html
Preferred colors: navy blue, a shade of dark green, and white. Another color can be introduced into the design if needed.
This logo design will be used by both St. John’s Catholic Church and St. John’s Catholic School. However, let’s build the logo drafts with the focus on the school, then we’ll adapt the design for the church.
Title: St. John’s Catholic School
