ACM CHI 2012 Conference
An annual conference focused on human-computer interaction, including user interface design and HCI research.
This is an annual conference that uses a new logo each year; prior logos can be seen at chi2011.org; chi2010.org; chi2009.org; etc.
Each year also has a theme, usually provided as optionally attached to the logo (beside or below) -- this year's theme is "It's the Experience!" -- theme is meant to focus on both the importance of user experience in human-computer interaction and on the experience of attending the conference (we'll be having more interactive opportunities this year).
Conference location is Austin, Texas
Conference dates are May 5-10, 2012
It would be nice to have places where the location and date can be incorporated in use (you'll see that some years this has been done, others not, depending on how they fit with the logo).
Logo is used pre-conference on website, flyers, give-aways, to attract participants, and at the conference for branding throughout (powerpoints, signs, T-shirts, etc.).
Attendance is about 2500 people; about 1/3 of them are students. Balance is about 30% female. Mix of academic, industry, government. About 2/3 from North America; about 25% from Europe; smaller numbers from Asia, South Africa, Brazil. Part of the community includes interaction designers. (Larger numbers are in research, usability practice, etc.) Community likes to think of itself as "with it".
Sponsoring organization is ACM SIGCHI. SIGCHI logo can be seen at http://www.sigchi.org; ACM logo can be seen at http://www.acm.org.
