Create a classic, elegant, monochrome logo for a religious blog

We are a Catholic blog for Catholic Men. We share stories about how to live a meaningful life and how to prepare for a good death by living in virtue.

Our goal is to inspire Catholic Men to live their lives in virtue so that when they die, they can look back on their life with joy because they lived well.

The name of the blog is Memento Mori, which is Latin for "Remember Death" meaning, never forget that one day you will die. This is meant to be a rallying call to live a meaningful life so that on our deathbeds, we can be proud of the life we've lived.

The logo will be used primarily on a website, or social media. It needs to work well in black against a light background, or white against a dark background.

The logo should feel classic and refined. The Catholic Faith has been around for thousands of years, and I'd like this logo to reflect that timeless age and wisdom in it.

So much of the Catholic Religion is steeped in meaning; there are many symbols -- the cross, the vine, the fish, etc. Here are some design ideas for inspiration:

The Cypress Tree / Cypress Branch -- a Biblical, ancient symbol of death, resurrection, and new life. It is mentioned in the Bible as being used for building the temple and for shipbuilding. It is referred to as a 'great' wood.

St. Joseph is the Patron Saint of a good death. St Joseph was a carpenter by trade, and is often seen with lilies as well (symbolizing his purity). Something combining a carpenter's tool with a lily could work also.

Don't want to go morbid with this -- no skulls, crossbones, or anything like that. Could do a gravestone with vines or cypress perhaps. The point is to communicate death, resurrection, and life in a visual way.
