We're a traditional IT development contracting consultancy, who are looking to push an internal used system for tracking contractor needs to a wider audience.
The system tracks the majority of 'paperwork' a contractor or freelancer requires (be they remote based, or client-site based). The core areas are : time tracking, task tracking, expense, work-logs, time-sheets, invoices, end-client access, filesharing, reference tracking and lead tracking.
The system shares some similarities with 37Signals Basecamp, but with a greater focus on individual contactor/freelancer needs, rather than collaboration.
Our envisioned audience (especially during the early days) is expected to be IT contractors - with a view to pushing the system to other freelancers down the road. As a result of this initial audience we can make a number of assumptions about the level of tech-savviness of our users.
As with so many development-led agencies we lack solid graphics skills. We need to develop a logo which is simple, appealing and easily recognised.
The logo will feature prominently on the following sites : 'Coming Soon' page, principal sales gateway (likely to be a word-press site) and within the App it's self.
The logo should not be too overpowering, as we are currently investigating the possibility of co-branding and partnership with a number of related industry companies (ie. accountants, employment agencies etc).
The key elements to the system is to remove the irksome of dealing with different parts of the admin of being a freelancer - whilst still actually finding time to perform the task you've been hired for.
This contest is first of several - so the logo contest can be considered a completely blank slate with no other branding guidelines to fit within.
There is a high likelihood of subsequent work in regards to this project (single page site for coming soon, and probably the full word-press theme for actual site) - depending on designer interest, there is a possibility of direct work after this contest.
Feel free to request any further clarification during the contest.
