Seven City Brewing Company
I'm in the process of opening a brewery and need a, hip and catchy, logo for the business. This logo needs to be something that can easily be adaptable to put on street signage, incorporated on to beer labels, pint glasses, bottle caps, the website, and even clothing. At this time I'm NOT looking for beer bottle label designs but should be something that is easy to incorporate into labels as a center piece.
The brewery will be in Virginia Beach, VA under the name Seven City Brewing Company. The area which VA Beach is located is also know as Hampton Roads. The urban nickname given to the Hampton Roads area is the "7 Cities" (Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Hampton, and Newport News). I would possibly like to incorporate this subtly into the logo but not necessary. My goal is to make this brewery a regional/national brewery and too much emphasis on the cities may discourage distribution elsewhere. I have included a link from Wikipedia so that you may familiarize yourself with the area. My logo should focus on the locals, but be exciting enough to bring in the tourists, recognize when on the shelf at the store, and easy enough to be recognized across the room at a crowded bar.

Let the contest begin...Good Luck!
Typical demographics: 21-45 males (married and single) with average income around $45k. Although the market leans mostly towards males, I would also like the logo to be eye catching to females (but not too feminine). This is a beach community, a tourist destination (3 million visitors yearly), and also a large military presence (50k in VA Beach alone and Norfolk is the largest naval base in the world)
Simplicity is the key word. I don't want anything complex. To get an idea of what I'm looking for refer to:
New Belgium Brewery- http://www.newbelgium.com (simple & creative)
Left Hand Brewing- http://www.lefthandbrewing.com (simple)
Avery Brewing- http://www.averybrewing.com (simple)
Magic Hat Brewery- http://www.magichat.net (I like the simplistic creativity)
If it helps, the "7" can be numeral or spelled out. Also "Company" can be spelled out or abbreviated "Co.". I think the design will help determine this.
Please come up with unique and fresh ideas as I'm already heavily involved with the brewing industry and I don't want anything that looks like another brewery. I will be providing feedback frequently as I want the best logo possible.
****UPDATE 5/26/10**** Please make sure the logo is fully scalable (vectorized), and fully printable; it works good in grayscale (black&white) mode, and also in one color version (white and black). This is all very important cause as a company mark logo will have various usage purposes (administrative, marketing, on product, on letterheads, business cards etc.)****
Also, No skylines. The city and the area doesn't have a recognizable skyline. I do not like the use of beer mugs or glasses either.
I need the layered RGB File as well as the JPEG file.
