Chickasaw Council, Boy Scouts of America (BSA)
Chickasaw Council is one council (of many Boy Scouts of America councils) that covers seventeen counties in the US states of Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi. The existing logo (attached) has been used for years with the feather being representative of the Native American history we’re most associated with (the Chickasaw were the area's indigenous peoples), and the fleur-de-lis (versions attached) being the national Scouting symbol.
We wish to update our logo as we celebrate 100 years of Scouting this year, moving us toward the next 100 years! (embrace our legacy while looking to the future)
Existing and potential youth, parents, leaders, donors, and alumni.
Here is some insight into scouting's "tonality":
• BSA prepares young people to make ethical and moral choices a lifestyle
• BSA has a rich history and a bright future; Celebrating the Adventure. Continuing the Journey! (tagline fyi, not to be included in design)
• Scouting is fun and adventurous
• Scouting if worth investing in
Logo must have 3 elements:
We must continue to associate ourselves with the national organization using the 1) fleur-de-lis, as well as 2) incorporate the name Chickasaw Council and 3) incorporate a recognized North American Native American artifact or symbol (like a feather or an arrowhead.)
Important caveat -The fleur-de-lis design may not be tampered with; individual components of the emblem cannot be broken apart or used separately and it shouldn’t be reproduced with any tint, screen or truncated. You have 3 versions to choose from.
Nothing else is a sacred cow, just keep with the scouting tonality - type/lettering, artifact, colors (other than fleur-de-lis) are open to your wonderful creative expression. Old logo is there for reference, we are not tied to any elements.
Please present design layouts on a solid white background - makes it easier to present consistently. Include a B/W version.
Also, we need your designs submitted as jpg's, at max size of 2000 x 2000 and 1MB-8MG, or as large as allowed by 99designs. This just helps us present clear, readable designs on a '22" screen or in a print-out to management. Your designs show better that way, promise:).
