Peter Kelly tuvo su nuevo icono o botón a través de un concurso de diseño:
Icon for UX Write, a brand new word processor for iOS

I am developing a brand new word processor for the iPad and iPhone called UX Write, aimed at the professional writing market. Since this product will be competing against products like Pages, QuickOffice, and Documents to go, I am seeking a very high quality icon which both grabs attention and communicates the main selling points of the app.
¿Cuál es tu visión?
I am looking for a high quality icon that communicates the main features of my app in a simple and easy to understand manner. The main selling points of UX Write are that it provides tools for working with the *structure* of a document (outline, table of contents, cross-references etc) and facilitates the separation of content and presentation through support for styles. Please read the following links for more details on exactly what it does, as well as some screenshots: http://www.uxproductivity.com/ http://www.uxproductivity.com/blog/2012/04/25/announcing-uxwrite/ The target market for the app is people who work with large, complex documents. Examples include academics, graduate students, technical writers, textbook authors, and business people responsible for writing project plans or reports. The icon should clearly communicate the concept of professional/technical writing, preferably demonstrating in some form the notion of structure (e.g. a document outline). I have attached two versions of a concept I came up with for the icon. The lines and circles on the left represent the outline view of the document, and the matching colours/shades between the outline elements and dark lines on the right indicate the concept of different levels of headings in the document. You may wish to submit a variation on this idea (with significantly improved visuals), but if you have a completely different concept you also think would be appropriate, I'm happy to look at that as well. I would prefer a semi-photo realistic look, though not *too* close to a real photo. The icon needs to comply with Apple's design guidelines, available at: http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#documentation/userexperience/conceptual/mobilehig/IconsImages/IconsImages.html Note in particular that the largest required size is 1024x1024. Once I have selected the winner, I will need full copyright ownership of the image and design. I will credit the winning submitter in the application's about box.
I've included another image which until recently I was using as the "teaser" image on my website. This is another possible approach to the icon design, which illustrates a situation in which the person might be when they are using the product (and really pushes the portability aspect of being able to do work on your iPad anywhere). I don't want the letters "UX" or the name of the product included in the icon, since the name "UX Write" will be displayed underneath the icon when it appears on the iPad/iPhone home screen and I feel this would be unnecessary duplication. I may also decide to release other products in the future using the "UX" prefix as branding, so these letters shouldn't be considered unique to this app. The two PDF attachments are examples of the sort of document that someone would write using my app. The first is a research paper, published in an academic journal, and the second is my PhD thesis. Both were produced using LaTeX, which is a popular document formatting system used in the sciences. Have a look at the layout and structure of the documents to get an idea of the sort of document I'm talking about. The #1 unique selling point of my app is its ability to create very sophisticated technical documentation like this.
